So, What Exactly is Venom F5?

The Hennessey Venom F5 is a sports car, manufactured and developed by the American vehicle-manufacturing company, Hennessey Special Vehicles (established in 2017). The Delta Motorsport of Silverstone England developed Venom F5, which was the company’s new proprietary vehicle, as an authorized titled manufacturer. The company also produced all of Hennessey’s previous generation Venom GT cars in England. Also,

  •  The word “F5” in the name is a reference to the F5 tornado that is known for its highest rating of 261-318 mph (miles per hour) on the Fujita scale.
  • Hennessey’s goal is to attain the title of the world’s fastest production car and reach top speeds over 485 km/h.

Initial Release of Hennessey Venom F5

The Hennessey Venom F5 was first revealed in August 2014. Three years later, in 2017, at the American SEMA Show in Las Vegas, it was shown as an exterior mock-up, without any interior or engine.

Specifications of Venom F5

According to initial reports, Venom F5 was powered by a completely bespoke and proprietary 7.4 L twin-turbocharged V8 engine. However, later it was disclosed that the engine, which was still in development, is expected to have an even larger capacity of 8.0 liters, with a final displacement of 6.6 liters.

With a power output of 1,817 horsepower (1,335 kW; 1,842 PS) and 1,193 lb.ft. of torque. According to V-MAX speed-tracking system, the Venom F5’s speed is claimed to be 301 mph (484 km/hour), with a bespoke iron block engine. Hennessey (manufacturer) predicts that the car will accelerate from

  • 0-186 mph (0-3—km/h) in less than 10 seconds.
  • 0-249 mph (0-400 km/h) in 20 seconds, which is almost twice as fast as Bugatti Chiron.

The available transmission is CIMA 7-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission with effective paddle-shifters and making the car rear-wheel drive. Also,

  • The body and chassis of Venom F5 are made entirely of carbon fiber, active aerodynamics paired with the body, which happened for the first time in Hennessey’s history.
  • Reportedly, the weight of the car stands at 1,338 kg, with fluids that set the power-tog weight ratio at 1,358 hp per ton.
  • The Venom F5 has active aerodynamics and a sleek, due to which it has an estimated drag coefficient of Cd=0.33.
  • Hennessey claimed that his new production has a great interior space, comfort, and quality, and despite the extreme performance, the vehicle will be able to comfortably accommodate tall passengers and drivers.

It was also mentioned that an anonymous NFL player, 6’7” tall, also placed an order for one of the first models, after the commencement of full production.

Production of Venom F5

Production-of-Venom-F5

Production of Venom F5 was initially limited to 24 units, and 12 of them were sold in 2020. In the United States, the initial price of the vehicle was US$1.6 million, and for the remaining 12 units, the price was later increased to US$2.1 million.

In 2021, eight cars were planned to be built and delivered. In August 2021, the company made an official announcement that it received customer orders and sold all the 24 units of F5. After selling all the 24 units, Hennessey claims to build the 25th car, with a spectacular speed, that goes beyond 300 mph.

Hennessey Produced a Speed Beast!

Recently, Hennessey Venom F5 performed a high-speed test, to break the goal of 300 mph, and the results were not less than mind-blowing. According to Hennessey, the vehicle completed 271.6 mph, and it won’t be long before it crosses the 300 figure in a few months.

About four runaway tests over the past year and several tests at Hennessey’s own Pennzoil Proving Ground, the Hennessey team again showed up at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Ground, to fine-tune the breaks, suspension, and aerodynamics of the F5.

If you’re wondering about how the company is sure of their vehicle, to reach 300 mph, it’s because of what’s beneath the hood, i.e. a 6.6 liter twin-turbo V-8 engine, with a maximum output of 1,817 horsepower, which is an amazing deal for a vehicle that weighs only 1,360 kilos (2,998 pounds), that’s just 30 kg more than a Ferrari F8 Tributo. John Hennessey, Hennessey’s founder, and CEO said in a statement.

“During final validation of the F5, we passed 270 mph and we intend to continue our journey to 300 mph toward the end of the year.”

What it’s Like Stepping into the Venom F5?

Ever strapped yourself to a rocket? We assume you didn’t. Well, don’t you worry because Venom F5 is about to give you the same experience, maybe an even more electric one, and tinge. Even in an idle position, the engine of the vehicle produces noise, like a T-Rex’s puffin on a pack of B&H. Also, remember that,

  • Maximum power is produced at 8,000 rpm (revolution per speed) and 8,500 rpm is considered the red area.
  • At 5,000 rpm, 1,192 lb. ft. of torque arrives.

When you open the F5’s butterfly door, you’ll be welcomed with a bespoke carbon fiber steering wheel, which is greatly inspired by an F1 racing car’s steering wheel and an aero plane ‘yoke’. Also,

  1. To maximize the driver’s visibility of the road ahead, the top of the wheel is eliminated, which also promotes proper hand placement for optimal control of the steering wheel.
  2. The places on the steering wheel that are mostly used by drivers to hold are leather-clad and the rest is exposed carbon fiber.
  3. It’s also equipped with tactile controls for windscreen wipers, lights, and turn signals.
  4. There’s a green switchable mode dial in the center that lets you choose between Wet, Sport, Track, Drag, and F5 modes.
