Anyone who has created Christmas flower arrangements ideas in December, or sent a bouquet of roses on Valentine’s day knows that there are occasions on which we should be sending flowers, but are there other times that we might send flowers that get overlooked?
Let’s first deal with the occasions everyone sends flowers. There are many that we all know:
- Christmas
- Easter
- Mother’s and Father’s Day
- Valentine’s Day
- Birthdays
- Anniversaries
- Births or Deaths
But should we limit ourselves to just these occasions? Here are some other times that flowers would make the perfect gift.
1. Wishing Someone Good Luck
There are many times where you can wish a friend or family member the best of luck. Why not say it with flowers? They may have received a big promotion at work? Alternatively, they may have finally quit a job that they hated and have finally started the business they’ve been talking about starting for years.
A lovely, bright and vibrant arrangement would be the perfect way to wish someone the best of luck in their new adventure, whatever it might be.
2. (Inter)National Something Something Day
It’s not even an exaggeration to say there are occasions for everything nowadays. Some of them range from the more rational and meaningful like International Women’s Day on March 8th, or Teacher’s Day on October 28th. These are great occasions to get the women or teachers — or female teachers? Two birds with one stone? — a lovely bunch of flowers to celebrate them.
Even those that are more unusual such as National Cheese Day which is marked on June 4th in Australia. If you have a close friend or family member who is particularly enamored with cheese, why not help them celebrate with some themed flowers? Perhaps yellow and white as colours of choice? Pick any of those more unusual “National Something” days and find a good connection with one of your friends or a family member. They’ll never see it coming.
3. A New Home
When a friend or family member has just moved into a new place, it often looks a bit grim and sparse early on. It lacks that “lived-in” feeling that makes a place feel really homey and cosy. What can brighten the place up? A lovely bunch of flowers! It doesn’t matter if they’ve just bought somewhere new or if they’re renting a place, there’s a lot of the same feeling as you change up your living environment.
What’s more, moving house is stressful, and it would be nice to have some fragrant flowers in place to not just look nice but to help oxygenate the room and create a more relaxing and at-ease atmosphere for the new residents.
4. Family and Friend Traditions and Anniversaries
Does your family make its own celebratory traditions to take part in each year? Whatever it is, a nice flower arrangement can be a way to make it really pop. It doesn’t have to be between family members, either. Do you and your best friend like to mark the occasion of your ‘friendaversary’? If you live overseas or in a place that’s not your hometown, you might also commemorate your arrival in that location.
Traditions and anniversaries can come in all shapes and sizes. Some people like to commemorate absolutely everything, and that might be a bit excessive, but for the more meaningful occasions that you, your family and friends observe, why not make it a special time to get a beautiful flower arrangement to go with the celebrations.
