Musician Couples Over the Years

Love is often described as the purest emotion a human being can feel. This is the emotion that has the unique characteristic of lacking any selfishness or ulterior motive for oneself, and being solely focused on making another person as happy as they can be. So, with such a powerful emotion being the driving factor behind so much of modern pop culture, and music being one of the strongest ways a person can express themselves, it is only fair that the field of romantic songs is very expansive and diverse indeed.

But you know what makes a love song even stronger? What really gives weight to the lyrics that go along with the harmonious melody? The singer or songwriter actually has a loved one that they have dedicated that song to. No love song can be stronger than the one where there was actual love involved. And though there are many music artists out there today who sing about lost love and missed chances, let’s take this moment to discuss some musician couples that have really made an impact in the entertainment world with each other.

We’re Not Talking About Just Any Couple

And when we say musician couple, we mean both partners of that relationship were musicians. So we are primarily going to be talking about couples where both members were either popular musical artists before getting together, or became popular musical artists after finding each other. This way we can focus on musician duos that have produced the best music they can because they were both complimenting each other’s work. So if you’re looking for some really good songs to dedicate to the hubby, keep on reading.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé

We can’t start off a list of musician duos without bringing up Beyoncé and Jay-Z. These two powerhouses of modern music have been together for a little over two decades now, and despite some rocky times in the past, seem to be set for life when it comes to their relationship. The couple met around the late 1990’s, and got married in 2008. They are currently the parents of three children; a daughter born in 2012 and two twins born quite recently in 2017. The two are still incredibly popular in the music industry today and continue to dominate charts year after year with individually released songs as well as songs they worked together on.

John Mayer and Katy Perry

John Mayer and Katy Perry might not be together any more – the couple broke up all the way back in 2014 – but the two are still worth a mention simply because of how eventful their relationship was. Both being very popular musicians, though Katy Perry definitely has more sales under her belt, the two stars had gotten together in 2012 and had gone on to have a very rocky relationship with a lot of breakups and getting back together as well as a lot of other drama. The two finally broke up after almost three years with each other, though not before they had released a song together and proven to the world that the two could work up some real magic when they worked on music together.

Johnny Cash and June Carter

Travelling a few decades back in time we come across a truly iconic moment in musical history. It was the time when all sorts of musical genres were seeing exciting new developments and new artists were rising through the ranks as they revolutionized the world of music, Oh and, it was also the time of the King; Elvis Presley. In fact, Johnny Cash first met June Carter while he was acting as an accompanying vocalist for Elvis Presley. The two really hit it off and went on to become one of the most iconic country music couples ever.

Johnny Cash once described his love for June Carter as being completely unconditional. His proposal to June Carter also went down in history as being incredibly iconic; as he had proposed to her on stage in the year 1968 while the two were performing in Ontario, Canada. And even more adorable is the fact that the title of best love letter of all time goes to a love letter Johnny Cash wrote to June Carter after the latter had turned 65 years old.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono

If there has been one band that has had a huge following worldwide and has also had a hand in completely transforming the world of music, it was without a doubt the Beatles. Famed for so many iconic moments and shots, as well as renowned for some of the best music ever written in human history, the band was originally composed of four musical geniuses. One of these was the highly talented and outspoken – and actually quite intelligent with an IQ of 165 – John Lennon.

John Lennon met a talented Japanese songwriter, artist, singer, and filmmaker by the name of Yoko Ono. The two hit it off and got married a few years later. John decided to leave the music industry to spend more time with his wife and son, but returned after a few years with an album that was mostly composed by Yoko Ono. John also referenced Yoko Ono in a song he wrote about his mother. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when John Lennon was shot dead by a crazed fan at only 40 years of age, and any possible future collaborations with Yoko Ono were lost forever.

The Notorious B.I.G and Faith Evans

The Notorious B.I.G was one of the best rappers that has ever lived, but his success wasn’t all his doing. Though quite talented indeed, the Notorious B.I.G (Biggie Smalls) had a lot of help from his wife and fellow musical artist Faith Evans. Their relationship was not your average kind. When the two first met, it only took them eight days to decide to get married. This rushed marriage understandably led to a lot of ups and downs, especially on Biggie’s part because of the multiple women he cheated with on Faith Evans.

Evans was heartbroken once the affairs came out in to the light. The couple had produced songs together, with much of B.I.G’s music having been written by her. The two had also been able to work with the same labels and producers, so they got to spend a lot of time together. However, the affairs were an indication of how bad the relationship was getting. The Notorious B.I.G was assassinated not long after, and Faith Evans released a song about how she missed him. If you want to shed some tears, you know now what to listen to.
