Different Varieties of Roses

When Valentine’s Day is approaching, most people’s minds already think of romance more than anything else. There are no romantic flowers that are more popular than roses. In fact, many people like red roses since they signify love and romance. However, there are many other different varieties of roses that signify other love-related issues. For instance, an orange rose signifies passion, whereas a purple rose shows enchantment. Below are some different varieties of roses:

1. Climbing roses

These roses have similar features to sprawling roses. Climbing roses grow sturdy and upright canes, and they’re known to bloom more in the rose seasons. Although you might think that they have climbing abilities, as their names suggest, the truth is that they’re not efficient climbers like vines. The canes of climbing roses grow up to around 15ft.

2. Polyantha roses

Their main plant is usually shorter and also has relatively smaller blooms. Their shortness makes them unsuitable for backyard landscapes. Polyantha roses have small flowers that bloom from the start of spring to fall. Polyantha roses come in different colors that include bright red, bright white, and soft pink. Most horticulturists prefer these roses since they’re disease-resistant and require low maintenance.

3. Centifolia roses

These roses are also called cabbage roses due to their resemblance to cabbage heads. They have a unique texture and thin petals surrounding the head, just like cabbages do. They come in 2 main colors, i.e., Pink and white. They also have a lovely scent, which is why perfume manufacturers prefer them as essential oils.

4. Hybrid tea roses

Their popularity is much higher generally compared to other rose flower classes. Hybrid tea roses have ornate blooms sprouting from their large stems. They form a very nice garden display.

5. Miniature roses

These roses are usually shorter and more compact compared to other rose types. They grow to around 15 to 30inches before they start blooming. The only problem associated with miniature roses is that they’re very delicate and easily infested.

In conclusion, these are some varieties of roses available. Others include floribunda roses, alba roses, groundcover roses, shrub roses, and gallica roses.
