Different ideas for mommy/daughter day

A while ago, my daughter and I had a Mommy/Daughter day, and I realized that we were both getting sick of the same old dinner and a movie, or the kids’ places that we go to for birthday parties. So, I came up with some new ideas that sounded more memorable. We started doing these, and have had a lot more fun. Don’t forget your Mommy/Daughter day mixed CD (see this post!).

1. Surprise someone you both know at his or her home or office.  It will make your daughter feel special that someone was so excited to see her!

2. Find out when and where the flash mobs are taking place in your area.  You should be able to do this with a quick Google search. Don’t tell your daughter though, let it be a surprise.

3. Pick out things at the dollar store for each other.  You each have a $5 spending limit and buy little gifts for each other.

4. Spend a whole afternoon baking, and then bring your goodies to friends and family.

5. Attend a class at your local craft store.  Usually, these stores offer one-time classes such as cake decorating or pottery.

6. Pack up outdoor toys and activities and spend a day at the park.  You can bring sidewalk chalk, a jump rope, roller skates, and a bouncy ball.  You can also play red light green light, and tag. You can bring a lot of books too, and end the day reading together.

7. Attend a local high school sports event or play.  If your daughter is interested in gymnastics, bring her to a high school gymnastics meet.  They are less expensive than college-level or professional-level, and your daughter probably won’t notice the difference.

8. Buy some flowers and hand them out to people.  You can bring them to a nursing home, a hospital, or just a local grocery store.

9. Write a book together.  Have one person start the story, and then take turns writing the next “part” of the story.  Write it down, and draw pictures to go with it. Then make a copy so that you each have one.

10. Spend some time outdoors.  You can go for an easy hike or a horseback ride.

11. If your daughter is a teenager, a spa date is a must thing. Give both of yourself a royal time with some special massage, manicure and pedicure to look good and feel good. Later don’t forget to take selfies together.

12. We find lunch and dinners boring. Therefore, we go for hi-tea where we get to choose from a variety of evening snacks and get more time to chit chat.

13. One of the things I have in my bucket list is to do a community service project with my daughter. We have a couple of ideas like taking part in a fundraising activity, educating some street-children, participating in awareness programs, visiting the old-home every weekend etc.

14. Choose some crazy songs and learn to dance on them. Plan out the steps, sync in and make sure you are able to dance on the entire song together.

15. This may not be possible immediately but whenever you can, plan out a road trip with your daughter to know her more and tell her more about yourself. Could be a nearest city or town where you take turns in driving, listen to music and eat all the time.

16. As basic as it may sound, plant a tree together or plan two trees with your names on it. Swap them to take care of it. If you are a mother, take the responsibility of your daughter’s tree and ask your daughter to take care of your tree

17. For once, wear similar thematic clothes and have a photo shoot. I got these really cool t-shirts and the pictures turned out awesome. We both had kept a copy hung in our rooms.

18. Take your daughter to your hometown. Introduce her to the places you spent your childhood and have her met your old neighbours.

19. Your daughter may have gone many times, but try going out to a concert with your daughter once. Be like her, stand in the front row, sing, dance and jump with the music.

20. Go fishing, camping and do live BBQ where you cook for each other, have wine and do a bonfire.

I hope these gave you some new ideas for your next Mommy/Daughter day!  These should make for a very memorable day for both of you. Hope your daughter likes these ideas.
